Sr. Louise Szerpicki - In Her Own Words

How were you called to the SSJ-TOSF?
By the interior and exterior beauty exemplified by some sisters (SSJ-TOSF).

Why did you come to religious life?
Mostly, to satisfy my desire to be of service, coupled by my inner call of attraction to Goodness (Godliness).

What's your greatest challenge as a sister?
At first, it was to live the Rule (ours) perfectly; that goal later proved meaningless. Presently my energies are directed to consciously live the present moment with intent to be God-connected, which encourages a more rightful attentiveness to treating others with mindful respect.

What are your greatest joys?
To realize that I am responsible for my human development. And now, at the age of 81, I have more time to reflect, pray, read and appreciate more deeply what life is about and who God is in my life.

What ministries have you been involved in?
Teacher, secretary, receptionist and now a never ending, purposeful encounter with whomever in my daily life.

Please offer a quote that makes a statement about the values of this life for you.
God said to Moses, "I Am Who I Am." Connecting with that is my desire to be the person God calls me to be.

Why should young women consider religious life today?
Opportunity to be supported by a group that has a greater focus and unified intent to make "God more deeply known and loved and in so doing, draw all persons to fuller and freer life." (SSJ-TOSF Mission Statement)
