ANAWIM

ANAWIM is a music group sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis. Four women are in the group—Mary Peters (guitar & lead vocal), Sr. Michelle Wronkowski (string bass & percussion), Sr. Debra Ann Weina (guitar & lead vocal), and Sr. Sandy Lasecke (guitar, keyboard & lead vocal).

The group, founded by Sr. Sandy along with Sr. Michelle, enjoys playing for weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions. The term "Anawim" has its origin in the Old Testament book of Psalms, chapter 37, verse 11: "Blessed are the anawim (the poor in spirit) for they shall inherit the earth." Bishop Andrew Gentry says the Anawim are the poor in spirit who see with a balanced humility in every person a reflection of the equality of human worth and the diversity of the creation of the Wondrous Artist and Lover that calls us into His presence, His life and His love.

ANAWIM would love to play for one of your special celebrations!

CDs are available with a $15 donation by contacting Sr. Sandy, SSJ-TOSF Development Office, P.O. Box 305, Stevens Point, WI 54481-0305; phone (715) 712-0848/ (715) 341-8457; e-mail slasecke@ssj-tosf.org.
