75-year-old Sister brings "Sunshine" to Surgery Families

August of 2013, I began my Volunteer Journey with Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, Wisconsin. I now have earned over 700 Volunteer hours and am beginning my 5th Year.

I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers at the Volunteer Banquet, held September 14, 2017. I work in the SPA – Special Procedures Area – where patients are prepped for surgery. From 7:00-11:00 am on Mondays, I do a variety of jobs: make a list of patients to visit, deliver newspapers to families, and deliver coffee and other drinks to them as they wait for their family member to return from surgery.

The nursing staff is wonderful to work with and is helpful and fun to be around.

This is truly a very fulfilling ministry, praying with and over patients and families, assuring them that God loves them and will see them through their pain and suffering.
