Sister Caroline Cerveny invites you to join her for a once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage to Poland in the spring of 2017. Read on for more information.
I've had the privilege of hosting several pilgrimages with Father Michael Cooper, SJ. This one is different for me. I am a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis, whose very tradition is rooted in members who were of Polish background and ancestry. It excites me to travel to Poland, often referred to as "sacred ground." Why? Poland has been called the martyr of nations, and the land that gave birth to the man whose teaching shaped many of our lives – Saint John Paul II. We will have the opportunity to walk in his footsteps, to trace his life, to see what he saw, to journey in some way "into his heart" by being in the land he loved so deeply.
These are a few reasons I want to visit Poland as a pilgrim! And I'm inviting you to come with me!
Next May 15-24, 2017, Father Michael and I will be hosting this pilgrimage to Poland where we will explore sites in Warsaw, Czestochowa, Wadowice (birthplace of St. Pope John Paul II), Krakow, Auschwitz, and more, ending in Berlin. As Father Michael shares in his brochure cover letter, "There is so much to see and experience in Poland that a guidebook alone cannot uncover. In order to see the best and most important of so many wonderful and important sites, we need local guides who know these places from the inside. You can always travel on your own, but traveling together and sharing the experience is much richer and more enjoyable – including sharing Mass each day in a special place along with meals and faith-sharing and evening conversation."
In a special way I look forward to sharing this pilgrimage in Poland with some of our sisters, alums and colleagues, and family.
