Marymount Hospital has opened a new state-of-the-art surgery center to ensure the ultimate care of patients. The hospital in Garfield Heights, Ohio, is a sponsored institution of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis.
Sister Jane Blabolil, SSJ-TOSF president, attended the opening ceremony in March, along with Bishop Roger Greis and Joanne Zeroske, Marymount's new president.
The new surgery center includes eight high-tech operating rooms, anesthesia alert system, surgical processing department, comfortable family waiting areas, and a calming patient environment.
"All of these elements work together to improve outcomes for Marymount surgery patients and their families," said Pete Flauto, perioperative services director. "It's a new Marymount, built on our tradition of putting patients above all else."
The next phase of the surgery center expansion will include renovation of 29,000 square feet of existing space to create patient rooms and associated surgery procedure rooms. Completion of the project is slated for 2013.
