Catholic Morality and Nuclear Abolition: March 1, 2015

In December, during the Vienna Conference on the Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons, the Holy See contributed a ground-breaking paper entitled "Nuclear Disarmament: Time for Abolition", which presents a compelling argument to move beyond limits set by political realism: "Now is the time to affirm not only the immorality of the use of nuclear weapons, but the immorality of their possession, thereby clearing the road to nuclear abolition."

In response, the Washington Working Group of Pax Christi is circulating the statement "Catholic Morality and Nuclear Abolition" which is linked below. As your leadership team, and in response to our Chapter Commitment to "continue to influence our public officials to pass legislation that supports the human rights of all through email campaigns, public meetings, letter writing, phone calls, etc." we have signed on to the letter. Let us continue to pray for peace and an end to violence.
