The world is a place of God's unique creation, a continually evolving gift to be cared for, fashioned, and enjoyed. (The Constitutions, Ch. 1, Art. 5)
It is also a divided world where people do not have the necessities of life, and where societies harm the environment and violate the sacred nature of life itself.
We, Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis believe that the absence of peace in the world is the root cause of many of these injustices. Therefore, we dedicate ourselves to creating peace wherever we have a presence. We do this by living in right relationship with God, one another, and all creation.
Our Social Justice Director assists us in implementing systemic change as a staff member at the 8th Day Center for Social Justice in Chicago, Illinois. Our Social Justice Commission and the Social Justice Contributions Fund Board act to keep us informed of current issues and give support to groups that work for social justice.
